Page 9 from Peter Parker: Spider-Man Annual 2000's B-Story "From the Rich to the Poor".
Wanted to get a page from the B-story of this book to go with the Title Splash from the A-Story I have
here. Absolutely stunning half page Splash featuring both Black Cat and Spider-Man. The dialogue is so quipy on this page (and this B-story entirely) that I almost wish it had word balloons, but at the same time I like that the word balloons aren't there to cover up the amazing art. While this isn't the B-Story's title page, I actually like this page a lot better ❤️ The pose and look she gives Spider-Man while in her "hydrophilic state" here would definitely have anyone at a loss for words.
While the A-Story is definitely the main seller for this book, the B-Story is pretty decent for being only 10 pages and full of classic Black-Cat Spider-Man banter. Spider-Man spots Felicia breaking into a office building and follows her believing that she's gone back to her petty thieving ways. She tries to explain that the office they broke into is Baxter's: a crooked local land developer who's been blackmailing local businesses into selling him their land on the cheap, and Felicia is looking for proof of his shady dealings to bring him down. Before Black Cat can find what she's after, they're suddenly attacked by Hydro-Man who reveals he's been on Baxter's payroll and has been the one who destroys the businesses of those who have been refusing to sell to Baxter.
The fight eventually ends with Black Cat knocking out Hydro-Man by smacking him over the head with a vase. While still soaked from the fight with Hydro-Man, Black Cat makes Spider-Man trip on his words and when he goes to securely tie up Hydro-Man she turns out the lights and sneaks away with the documents she'd been looking for in-hand.
Also, my first published page featuring Spider-Man!
