Description

Craig McCracken is working on revivals of his creations The Powerpuff Girls and Foster�s Home for Imaginary Friends. (The latter cocreated by Lauren Faust.) I have multiple pages from the comic book adaptations to make up this Fremont Main Library display for the month of November 2022. I am fascinated by the relationship with fellow CalArts classmate Genndy Tartakovsky and included comic pages from Dexter�s Laboratory and Samurai Jack. Craig created Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup for his student film Whoopass Stew. Genndy created Dexter for his student film. They began at Cartoon Network on Dexter with Genndy in charge and Craig in a supporting role. When Craig developed The Powerpuff Girls, he was in charge and Genndy supported Craig. They had a number of CalArts classmates on the crew. Since that start, they have gone on to prolific creative careers. On these pages, Craig drew Townsville under attack in blue pencil. City Hall is a stat. Inker Mike DeCarlo drew on vellum. Genndy was penciler for the Dexter pages and wrote the Samirai Kack story.
