DescriptionAstro City started with several one-shot stories before embarking upon a mini-series in issues #4-9 of its second volume. The topic: Batman, or rather his Astro-analogue The Confessor, a figure of the night, skulking amongst the stone gargoyles adorning Grandenetti Cathedral. As he often did, Kurt Busiek told this tale from the perspective of a non-powered newcomer, in this case Confessor's new protégé Choir Boy.On this dramatic page near the climax, Confessor knows that the mayor and his troops are actually shapeshifting aliens. But they know that Confessor is a vampire, and they're prepared to spike him with a stake-shooting Gatlin gun. Ouch! That's going to leave a mark. Fortunately he's not quite finished, as we'll see. That's quite a Kirbyesque police cruiser in the fourth panel, isn't it! The whole page is rendered in cinematic full-width panels. When are we going to get an Astro City TV show? Social/Sharing |

A first with Astro City with the saga extending that many issues for normally a self contained anthology series. This is definitely Kree-Skrull war!
