DescriptionAstro City started with several one-shot stories before embarking upon a mini-series in issues #4-9 of its second volume. The topic: Batman, or rather his Astro-analogue The Confessor, a figure of the night, skulking amongst the stone gargoyles adorning Grandenetti Cathedral. As he often did, Kurt Busiek told this tale from the perspective of a non-powered newcomer, in this case Confessor's new protégé Choir Boy. On this page during the climactic battle, Choir Boy finds himself rescued from the unmasked aliens by the Crossbreed, a group of Evangelistic superheroes. Established religions often gets cast as the antagonists of freedom in modern media, but this alternative spin seems appropriate for a story about a superhero priest. Social/Sharing |

The Crossbreed were rarely seen and they could have made a whole storyarc about them if they wanted to lean into some hot button issues.
