Description
Published March 22, 1951.

I wanted an example of Alex Raymond's work because of his sumptuous, co-created Flash Gordon strip and because that art was a major influence on Golden and Silver Age comic artists. Unfortunately, King Features did not allow Raymond to resume work on Flash Gordon after his return from World War II combat service in the Pacific Theater. However, King Features' consolation prize, creating the Rip Kirby comic strip, gave us an additional decade of wonderful art and entertainment before his untimely death in a car accident at age 46.

Thank you to Tony Marine for letting me add this fine example of Alex's art to my gallery.

Glad to see this in your gallery. It's a great example and I'm going to miss it. Love the faces in panel two, and Rip in the tree is so great. Fortunately the funds are going to more great art!  ;) Thanks again and enjoy!

The backgrounds and setting steal the show for me on this strip!  You don't see it done to this extent as often.
