Description

Frank Miller has Elektra; Mike Grell has Shado, who debuted in his very popular The Longbow Hunters in 1987. The ink was barely dry on that series when he crafted this pencil illustration of his new standout character, complete with the series' signature weapon. I picked this up at auction in 2022 and showed it to Grell at Heroes Con 2023. He wanted a photograph of it for himself, and I got one of him holding it as well.

This vintage Grell pencil commission from the 80's! The art looks as cool as it did when Grell interspersed pencil panels throughout the story and either colored them or left them alone.
