Description

A true story: Back in early 2019, I dreamed up a series of scenes from a faux 'what if' comic starring the ever-lovin' Thing and the Micronauts... a team up book that never was, but should have been.

Bringing together my day job and my hobby, I imagined a totally far-fetched (!) scenario where the planet was overcome with a fast spreading infectious disease that had our heroes racing against the clock to find a cure...

And then the pandemic of 2020 happened. It's a funny old world sometimes. And not always 'ha ha' funny.

I am really happy with how this drawing turned out. The art team of John Hebert and Bill Anderson continue to produce superior-quality commissions. I am grateful to be the beneficiary of their considerable talent and skill.

For the uninitiated, the bad guy in the middle is Galactic Defender who made a brief appearance in Micronauts Annual #1 from Marvel. I believe John tricked out his costume with automobile parts.

Update: As with other commissions from my collection, this drawing went from great to even greater thanks to the amazing digital colors of Simon Gough! My thanks to all involved!

Micronauts would have been great when slotted into MTIO #87 along with Ant-Man. This is a fantastic commission with plenty to admire in the inks done in a realistic high detailed manner.

Wow! Love the story of how this commission came to be! And i have to say the art lives up to the promise of your premise! Now if only someone would say, "Let's do it!"
