DescriptionSplash page (pg 1) of the Land Of The Bird People story published in Flash Comics #71 (1946). Kubert was already working since 1944; he was 19 when he drew this. Some doubt was expressed as to whether this was actually a published work (possibly because it didn't have the DC 'Bullets' pasted to the art at top left and right corners, like other pages from this story sold at Heritage in the past), or a rejected alternate page. So, although i didn't have access to a copy of Flash Comics #71, i did procure a copy of Infinity Inc #4 (1984) where the story was reprinted (bleached stats probably restored by Al Dellinges: see additional pic). Voila! It IS the art from the published story!Social/Sharing |

That's just an amazing piece for the origins of one of the medium's greatest creators! Very cool that it has survived the old DC process and their original art policies.
