Description
Red Lanterns #1 Page 20 By Ed Benes

Pencils by Ed Benes

While Atrocitus is away on a personal quest, the Red Lanterns on Ysmault begin to gather around Bleez, foreshadowing Bleez's coup against Atrocitus later in the series. Interesting to note that after the first panel, the published page is the reverse image of the original art, so when read in the book the page ends with the almost full-figure art of Bleez instead of the panel where she's rallying the Red Lanterns together. I guess they figured the dialogue fit better in that orientation

Ed did the pencils for the first 7 issues of Red Lanterns and scans of his pencils were sent to Rob Hunter to be inked. So all the original art for those pages exist as separate pencils and inks on blueline pencil scans. If anyone knows where the inks are for this page please feel free to reach out, I'd love to be able to reunite them!

Flipping it also makes them end the comic on the stronger and larger image.  It would be interesting if they made this change before or after it was inked to see if editorial had input after the pencil stage.  Benes' mix of pin up and storytelling evolved and made his work stand out beyond others in the field.
