Description
This was the second gift I received from Jeff Wedding for Christmas. I always wanted a Linda Carter piece and now I am excited to say I finally own one. Jeff's kindness truly made this a special Christmas for me. It has been a while since I last read the Night Nurse series, but I always loved the concept of nurses being looked upon as heroes. Having worked in the profession for many years I have seen true heroic acts performed on a daily basis. The inner struggles of dealing with life and death, which are frequently discussed within comics, are the realities of what many nurses face on a daily basis. Thus, this piece is truly meaningful to me as I relate to it on many levels. Yet, I thankfully never had to don the iconic wardrobe depicted on this piece lol.

Night Nurse: If Mr. McMurphy doesn't want to take his medication orally, I'm sure we can arrange that he can have it some other way. But I don't think that he would like it.

McMurphy: Heh, YOU'D like it, wouldn't you?  Here, give it to me.

A fun and meaningful piece drawn by a legendary artist? You hit the trifecta.

Aside from Hembeck's characteristic curlicue knees, it almost looks like he was going for a bit more realism in this depiction of Night Nurse. Whatever the case, it works!

Yeah, aside from the curly knee caps, it's definitely much more realistic and less "Hembecked" than his superheroes. Really cool! Happy New Year!

Marvel in the 1970s was much more open to different concepts outside of superheroes than what we get today.  Night Nurse is a great example, and Hembeck works his magic here on the character.

A Hembeck always makes the perfect gift.  But the added personal connection (a nod to your profession) makes this one even more perfect, if there's such a thing.
