DescriptionArtist: Les EdwardsCover title: Slow Fall to Dawn book cover; author Stephen Leigh (pub. Bantam, 1981). Medium: Pencil preliminary Size: 340 x 250mm Signed: ‘Les Edwards’ at bottom Notes: Written ‘Slow Fall to Dawn’ text at the bottom, and notes at the side for lighting and “three legs on this side”. On the final painting the figures are larger, Les told me “the publishers wanted the figures made larger, which I did, but I think to the detriment of the impact of the painting. The scale is the most striking thing about this prelim because the cavern is even more massive as we can only relate to the size of the two human characters.

Yeah the prelim scale is far better as the artist Les knew too.
