Description
I'm not sure exactly what's going on here, but the woman on the right is clearly up to no good. George Wunder worked for the Associated Press in the 1930s, producing illustrations for serialized fiction that was syndicated in newspapers. This illustration is probably for one of those stories, but I have no idea which one.

Starting at the very end of 1946, Wunder won the job of producing popular newspaper strip 'Terry and the Pirates' after the departure of founding artist Milton Caniff. He continued this for decades. The "no nose" presentation of the two women in the image recalls Caniff's style, used as well by modern cartoonists from Paul Smith to Milo Manara.

This is the kind of look plenty of modern day pin up illustrators strive for, but with more charged imagery.  It has amazing linework and fine contours done and filled out by the shading.
