Description

If you spend any time in my gallery you're going to find a slant in my collection away from Superhero art-- even when I buy a superhero page like this one it's not because I want to see the guy in tights punch out another guy in tights, it has to be for the storytelling. I've never been much of a fan of Superman other than the great Fleischer Bros Cartoons from 1941, the George Reeves TV series and the Christopher Reeve 1978 movie. In comics I liked the Tim Sale SUPERMAN story and I really liked the limited work Alan Moore did on the character- other than that except for the Golden Age I don't have any connection to him.

But this page really struck me because of it's Manga stye-- the giant creature, the composition and the lighting, it all comes together on what I think is a really great page by a tremendous artist.

This reminds me of the 1980's classic, "Money Pit". Great imagery.

Love the techniques used for shadowing with this. They subtly pop from the page and it looks awesome.
