In the early issues of this series, McDaniel establishes the look and tone of the series with deep inks and dark atmosphere to differentiate Bludhaven's gangland setting from Gotham. Aside from the McDaniel artistry, the layout is powerful in itself showing the False Facers' violence stacking outwards.
