Skulldigger and Skeleton Boy issue 1 page 4

I'm a big fan of Zonjic's work and absolutely love these characters. At first glance a lot of what Jeff Lemire does in his Black Hammer universe mirrors what already exists in heroes of DC or Marvel, but there's usually a nice indie alternate take to them. Skulldigger comes across as a weird mix of the Punisher and Batman. They all dedicate themselves to targeting hardened criminals, but Skulldigger integrates the uncompromising brutality of the Punisher with the super-hero looking after (or saving of) a young ward/sidekick aspects of Batman (a need to protect a child who's been dealt a very shitty hand). In terms of introductions, these first pages of the series really said a lot about who these 2 characters would be.

Unfortunately Zonjic doesn't do many pages traditionally anymore. As I already owned the DPS that came just before this page, I couldn't help myself but to pick it up when it became available.
