Description

Art Blakey (1919-1990) Art Blakey was a powerful drummer with an instantly recognizable style. His thunderous beat accompanied some of the Jazz greats like Thelonious Monk and Charlie Parker. He was inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 1991 and the Grammy Hall of Fame (in 1998 and 2001). He was awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.
