Description
"Blood Is the Code!" by Bob Haney, January 1972.

Page-length side page underscores Admiral Yamato being shot down. Following panel perspectives are great storytelling: overhead shot of camp commander's building as he expects a promotion, close-up of his shocked face when he learns of Yamamoto's demise, and shot from above of him hanging his head as he's informed of the Unknown Soldier's escape.

Story concludes on the next page with the camp commander committing hari-kari; unfortunately I don't have the original art.

That veritcal panel makes you do a double take!  What a bittersweet finale to the story.  Like all great war stories, this compact tale teaches us the folly of war.
