Tequila (2) by Gobi

This is my second Tequila sketch by his artist, Gobi.

For those who don’t know, Tequila was part of an extremely (dumb) fun universe developed/written by Jerry (Zombies that ate the world) Frissen in the sweaty universe of Lucha Libre with many great artists whose influences can be found in Japanese animation (Hiroyuki Imaishi or Sushio come to mind). First serialized in a 10 issues anthology, the 3 most popular series were later compiled and finished in 3 volume albums. The series were some kind of a small hit which generated a cultish following including a brand of design toys.

(some of it has been published in the US btw, by Image or Humanoids and the title was nominated for an Eisner)

Tequila was one of them, the meanest Lucha Libre character in that shared universe, think the Hulk with a mask, cigar, sombrero and ridiculous wrestler pants.

This one is done on the inside cover of one of the anthology books (prestige format).

I Love his fist bumpy raised arm here but mostly the fact that we only get to see one of his eyes and yet he is (so) looking down at you, dear reader.

This is one is for my pal Landon who loves the sweaty man love art of Lucha Libre ^^.
