Description

I commissioned Drew Posada to digitally colour "Nurse Candy" for the production of a line of WHOOPS! pin-up girl stickers.

How many of you have read the comic strip about how WHOOPS! started? It’s at the front of the Sketches & Drawings book I published for Armando in 2007. Do you know how hard it was to convince Armando to draw the first WHOOPS! character? We were fighting about it for hours! I told him that I wanted a nurse.

“No way! I’m a real pin-up artist now and I don’t want to return to drawing those crappy toons.”

I threatened to drive him to LAX and send his ass back to Mexico. “LAX!” is what I always used to say to him when he argued with Me. Armando is probably the most stubborn person I’ve ever known in My life so I gave up and walked away. Later, he walked up to Me and handed Me a piece of paper with a nurse on it. I called her “Nurse Candy”. He told Me that she was going to be the only one. Fast forward 13 years later and lo and behold, he ended up drawing over 300 WHOOPS! characters.
