Description

Loosely based on a 14th century Chinese novel and set in an imaginary era, in which medieval and futuristic elements are mixed, "I Briganti" is just one of Magnus' many masterpieces and tells the story of a band of brigands and renegades who threaten the imperial power from the swampy territories of China. In the background there's a hierarchy of underhanded and corrupt politicians/officials and a people exhausted by poverty and injustice.

This single panel, cut by Magnus himself from a larger page and signed in red ink, was included in a deluxe edition of the complete (albeit unfinished) saga, consisting of four books and released posthumously in 2002.

The six bandits on this piece each has a distinct individuality and personality displayed. Somehow they all fit into a small panel.

Le vignette del primo e secondo atto, ancora in stile grottesco, sono di una qualità superlativa, così come le chine nere e piene utilizzate (in seguito il Maestro userà i pennarelli anche sui Briganti, con risultati sempre eccellenti, ma con un impatto visivo diverso). Questa che ritrae il Monaco di Ferro e un bellissimo primo piano del capitano Lin-Chung è uno spettacolo nello spettacolo, complimenti!!
