DescriptionNightmare fuel and bunny slippers! Colleen's art has it all!Opening today at the Society of Illustrators in New York City, what will no doubt be an incredible gathering of artwork, is a celebration of the collaborations between Colleen and Neil Gaiman over time. The Sandman may be the most famous of their works together, and I was thrilled to pick up this modern continuation of that franchise. Gaiman-blessed writers like Simon Spurrier and James Tynion IV have been doing a great job of building in the world that was created. Characters like the Corinthian and Thessaly are ideal candidates for an expanded history, and this cover celebrates them both. Skin crawling detail throughout as Colleen flexes her considerable skills. The work shows a strong connection to her work on Snow, Glass, Apples. FLAWLESS in person. Social/Sharing |

Absolutely beautiful Sandman Universe cover! Love all the mystical detail in this! Colleen Doran's visual imagination is very impressive! I could stare at this cover all day long and still find delightful details I missed. Congrats!

Ain't it comicbook lines
Window stained have you read it
Ain't it about time?
Let's all go stand around it
Country, I've Nightmared
And you'll be there
And the Tynion time IV Spurrier
'Cause I understand you've been dreaming for Sandman
That goes by the name of the Doran
She draws the line with Neil Gaiman in the eye
Of a universe that's for fandom
Ain't the years gone by fast
I suppose Corinthian
Oh, I almost forgot to ask
Did you hear of my new comment?

Beautiful! Is it just me or is she drawing from Indian influences to some degree? Simply fab!

I do not recognize any of the Southeast Asian influences I grew up with.

Absolutely gorgeous detail. It's quite the piece that would make a P. Craig Russel 'Sandman - Arabian Nights' page stand up and say, "Wow - that's one heavenly detailed and textured work, right there," and this is such a piece. I can't top your "skin-crawling detail" description; absolutely perfect. A piece the viewer just smoothly falls into, like the Dreaming itself. An incredible, brilliant add, M L! Congrats!

An absolute masterpiece! Great score Mikail - really a stunner. Interesting how they changed the film reel to the word "Hollywood" in the colored version - I like the original more. This must look AMAZING in person.

Dude this is just outstanding. Precise line work, but the graphic elements are over the top. Perfect style considering the subject matter. Big congrats!

I'm jealous! I was hoping to make it to MoCCA but as the exhibit is moving to San Diego it makes more sense to wait. Enjoy!

This is stunning. Colleen Doran just keeps getting better and better, which is amazing when you consider that she came out of the gate great.
