Description

The legendary Phil Hester pencilled this piece for me at the 2009 Mo-Kan Comics Conspiracy, and I originally meant to ask Steve Lightle to ink it, but that plan never came to fruition. Last year, I gave the pencils to young superstar Baldemar Rivas, and he completely surpassed my expectations! Thanks so much, Baldemar! I love the drybrush inking flourishes and the electricity!

Looks like Rivas took a Silver Age Ditko approach to the inking of the shadows on the back of Spidey because of the brightness of the Electro's bolts, but of course leaving the logo white.

Shockingly awesome Hester piece, Doc! The Spidey has a very Oeming feel to me (possibly the angled calves?), and Electro's pose feels like pure Gene Colan! Love -LOVE- Baldemar's inking here (great choice!), and you're absolutely right: that drybrush is killer. It must feel good to finally have this inked after so much time, and the results are (dare I say it) worth the wait! Congrats, Doc!

Love that Spidey's upside down! 2 artists that really compliment each in the combined image, and love the background rendering, too. I particularly want to try and pick up a Rivas piece at some point soon! Congrats!
