I picked this up at the Grand Rapids Comic Con "Spring Fling Road Trip" (actually located in Kalamazoo MI).

Yuji Kaida (Japanese illustrator that has worked on numerous high-profile properties, including Godzilla, Macross, Gundam, Patlabor, and Tomy's Zoids) was one of the guests in attendance. He had some sketches available for sale and had openings on his sketch list. His interpreter explained that Yuji was not able to draw any licensed characters, but could do a kaiju based on an animal such as an octopus.

The first thing that came to mind was fugu (blowfish) so I went with that. I told them that I had tried it when I was in Kyoto in 2020.

Later in the day I picked up the sketch. Along with the giant fugu kaiju, Yuji included a background scene of Daimonji-yama (or more properly known as Nyoigatake), which is the mountain on which the largest of the five giant bonfires of Daimonji-yaki is burned in late summer. The character, �大� meaning great.

The art itself appears to be on paper, with a sturdy stock/carboard backing, held together with a thin gold tape that goes around the edges.
