Jim Lee is definitely the Icon of modern DC. His superhero style is the default from which all others can take characters like Batman into different directions. Even in this modified costume form, it is still the one the look that mainstream comics fans will associate with Batman.

Well put! Despite this not being a definitive "Batman" or "Jim Lee" look, it still has an very appealling look that I think most fans would have enjoyed if it made it to the comic pages.
