Description

Antonio Hernández Palacios (Madrid, 1921-2000). Plancha original (nº 3) del álbum "La toma de Coímbra", tercera entrega de la serie "El Cid". Dibujada en el año 1973, estaba prevista su publicación en la revista "Trinca", pero esta desapareció y la plancha quedó inédita hasta que, en el año 1982 la Editorial Ikusager la publicó en formato de álbum. Tinta china y colores al agua sobre cartulina de dibujo. Dimensiones: 36,4x47,7 cm. (soporte) y 33x42 cm. (dibujo).

"La toma de Coímbra" es, en mi opinión, uno de los mejores álbumes de cómic dibujados nunca en toda la historia.

You can see there's great storytelling in the face and the colors when El Cid is thinking back of past campaigns in these flashback backgrounds.

Exactly. That was a technique that Hernández Palacios used often and very effectively from a narrative point of view.
