Johnny Bruck cover for both Terror Tales - June 1971 and the German science fiction magazine Perry Rhodan No.363 - August 1968.

Johnny Bruck was a German science fiction artist who did thousands of cover paintings and illustrations primarily for the long running German magazine Perry Rhodan and its sister publication Atlan. He was virtually the sole illustrator for these weekly magazines from the 1950's into the 1990's! Think of that for a minute, producing two or three paintings per week for over 40 years! It boggles the mind.

A few months ago, fellow CAF member Markus Rohrwild started posting Bruck paintings as he had purchased all of the paintings that Johnny's widow still had, and that was thousands of paintings. This got the attention of both Doug Ellis and myself. As we both started to purchase paintings from Markus, we hit upon the idea of inviting him to attend the recent Windy City Pulp and Paper Convention in Chicago as a dealer, and he immediately accepted. While here, we both took delivery of our paintings and I will be posting mine over the next few weeks.

What I like best about these Bruck paintings is that they are fun, colorful, reasonably sized and affordable! And some of his artwork received dual usage, both here in the US and primarily in Germany. Even a seasoned collector like myself can expand his horizons every once in a while! Thanks Markus!
