Description

A brooding portrait of the Lord of the Jungle, painted not long after the Edgar Rice Burroughs calendar was published. Jones has long had an affinity for Tarzan in a variety of settings, and this image conveys a sense of mood that is palpable. The painting was completed in September 1999. I actually have chased this painting since it was created. When it was first posted on Jones' web site in 1999 I did not have the funds necessary to purchase it. Since then I had been on the lookout for it, and finally the stars aligned in my favor. Thank you to the seller for his extremely gracious nature and for being true to his word in giving me a chance to acquire it when the time was right. Oil on canvas, 16" x 20"
