Description
I met Eric at the Lake Como Comic Art Festival 2023, and this was in his portfolio. It was a tough call; I was going to buy either this or a recreation of a classic X-Men cover. I chose the one that had Canete's own layout, in a large 13"x18" format. The X-Men always look best when charging into battle. Toned paper gives the artist leeway to use white paint for highlights. Canete reported that he became accustomed to using red pencil for his layouts when he was working in animation, and every member of the department used a different layout color to help identify who was working on what.

The red pencil really makes Cyclops' blast pop with eXtra glow. You chose the superior option for sure. Congrats!

Nice retro look!  Canete's redesigns are very nice.  Iceman looking like a soft snowman is great and a four winged Angel makes you want to see more.  The red pencil provides a bit more danger and edginess to the outsider team!

Great layout, by a unique style talent.  18"?? That's a big dog!  I'm going through your gallery as I watch the replay of your interview.
