Description

This is a preliminary sketch for a painting "Hannibal's Revenge" which graced the cover of Italian fumetto Skorpio Raccolta. The artist explains: "Raccolta in Italian mean 'collection.' They would bind together 3-4 past issues of the comic books, and put a new cover on it and sell it as new book." The figure gained an ankle tattoo for the finished cover. "The final painting wasn’t much bigger than the prelim... The publisher had a small scanner and he would request the artists to paint small dimension pieces."
