Description

DC 1987. Pen and ink on Bristol board with image area of 10x15. From the issue "All Flesh Is Grass" by Alan Moore and Steve Bissette. A thought provoking issue in which Swamp Thing visits the planet of J586. The population live within large Banyam trees, which are also sentient. They eat animals, but not vegetation. This unique page design has the planet taking on the shape of Swamp Thing's face. From a distance it appears as a splash page of his face but upon closer inspection all is revealed. Swamp Thing is one of my favorite characters and I have long wanted a page from the annals of Swamp Thing that stood out. I was thrilled when I acquired this, there is nothing else quite like it across all eras and iterations of the character.

Great design of the page with one of Alan Moore's final issues. Veitch makes a commentary for us to look at the big picture of the page and of the overarching story being told in Moore's entire run.
