I love Michael Dooney’s 1887 series, and this Wonder Woman is one of the first (and one of the best) pieces he’s ever drew for that series. He’s made many different prints from this artwork, including a color version. It’s easy to see why. Just look at how beautiful it is.

Bought this from eBay. One day I’m going to get my own personal 1887 commission from Michael Dooney.

The 1880's also saw a rise in the popularity of these oval frames as well as inspirational artwork representing the ideals of their nation. This Wonder Woman certainly is as captivating as a portrait of Athena, Nike, or Aphrodite.
