Black Cat by Jan Bazaldua

At this year's spring edition of Dutch Comic Con in Utrecht, the organisation & Marvel assembled their entire 2023 class of Stormbreakers - the new iteration of the Young Guns. As Editor-in-Chief said at the show: these are the names you & the next generation of readers will know.

One of that prestigious group is Jan Bazaldua, who's soon to work on "Captain Marvel" & has done a bunch of Spidey covers. One of those featured Black Cat & that became my commission choice at the show. Despite going to a few other Stormbreakers first, I was the first on her list & she started working on it immediately.

At one point while walking through the Artist Alley, one of the crew approached me & told me to hear to her table. She was waving & lo & behold, was done already with the piece by noon.

It's an interesting take that she did not go for a masked version - she did have a reference with mask for the costume - but I kind of like how it gives more room for Jan's style to come through.

This commission is A4, European's equivalent of 9x12, and was done in pencils, inks & marker at the show.
