DescriptionAt this year's spring edition of Dutch Comic Con in Utrecht, the organisation & Marvel assembled their entire 2023 class of Stormbreakers - the new iteration of the Young Guns. As Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski said at the show: these are the names you & the next generation of readers will know.High on my list was "Amazing Spider-Man" & "Spider-Man" artist - and Stormbreaker - Federico Vicentini. I had reached out to him a couple of weeks before the show & we chatted a bit about a potential full-blown commission, but I never truly committed. At the show, I tried my luck again & went for a "remark / sketch" option, that he had. It was EXTREMELY budget-friendly & I didn't expect much for the money. I was happy I could have something of his at that price, to be honest. Something went lost in translation, however, as I mentioned to Federico that I was there for one day only. He might have misunderstood as when I went back 90 minutes before closing that day, he hadn't started mine yet. He must have noticed a mix between "love for his work" & "disappointment" in my eyes, as he stopped what he was doing & started on something for me. "Come back in 30 minutes". Almost exactly thirty minutes later, he gave me this full figure Spidey, that is considered "a sketch". Now, I'm not going to argue that his more finished commissions aren't better, but there is something about this semi-finished looser playfulness that I enjoy quite a bit. Definitely with this McFarlane-esque pose. Size is A4, done in pencils, inks & markers. Social/Sharing |
