Description

"Kyiv Founders - The Land Defenders" is an original piece of art created by me;
Inked and colored with pencils and copic markers on blue and pink paper.
All text is inked with the brush and Japanese ink.
You can see the copic markers bleed on the other side of the page.
Hand made frame with 9mm brass casing in each corner.

This art is my attempt to tell the story of Kyiv and to show how Super Heroes
of the past could inspire all of us today.
The original history of the Kyiv founders is in this picture.
I included a Nestor Manuscript quote dated 850 AC.
Three brothers and their sister are depicted in the form of a giant statue that is located in Kyiv by the river today.
This monument is very familiar to all Ukrainians as it was printed on their currency in the 1990�s.
The silhouette of this statue is drawn at the sky right above the main characters.
It represents the ancient Kyiv founders who are watching from above.

This art is my imagination of what the original founders of Kyiv would look like today.
All four are fighting for the city they founded 1550 years ago.

They are depicted by me as soldiers and their sister - Swan (Lybid in Ukrainian) who
controls the sky and calls on air support.
Their weapons of choice are : Swan's (Lybid) sidearm - 1911 Colt. 45 cal, Kyi has 223 cal (5.56 mm) rifle, Schek holds his 50 BMG Barret and Javelin missile system, and Khoriv fights with the Ukrainian made "Maluk" - bullpup rifle.

I intended to recreate few of this illustrations. This one was sold to Andre - the costumer from Germany. Part of the profits goes to support soldiers' families.
