Avengers #63, volume 3 (2003), story page 12 by Davis and Farmer

"Standoff, Part 3" written by Geoff Johns. Cover date March 2003.

Synopsis: Thor is hell bent on overthrowing a dictatorship in Slokovia killing peasants who worship him and who call on him to protect them. Iron Man is attempting to stop Thor from interfering in the country's internal affairs. Meanwhile, Doctor Doom is on the margins trying to manipulate Iron Man and instigate conflict between the two Avengers. The US and NATO and Russia are drawn into the conflict.

This page shows Thor attacking the Slokovian dictator's forces while Cap tells Iron Man to hold off Russian Blackjack bombers that are on their way. I really like the images of Cap and Iron Man, plus what's not to like about Thor putting the hammer down on a dictator's military.

Later in the book is a memorable scene where Cap tries to keep US forces from getting involved. Their commander says he has orders from the President and that they nonetheless will advance. Cap orders the US soldiers to stand down in a William Shatner-staccato rhythm, there's a pause, and then the soldiers salute Cap.
