DescriptionThese were Matt Lesniewski's original pass at the first four pages for what became Faceless and the Family. Matt used these pages to pitch the idea very early in the project. He ultimately redesigned and redrew these pages for the final book, but these were published in the back of the Zoop-funded trade paperback in 2023. It's been great to see Matt's work on this series also hit comic books stores in individual issues with Oni-Press in 2023 and more to come in 2024. Matt has proven he is a one of kind artist with a completely fresh style and approach to his work. It's unreal to look at these pages and see the amount of lines and work and thought that went into these pages. I love seeing him continue to push the boundaries of shapes and textures with a result that is instantly recognizable to Matt. It was also an interesting exercise comparing these initial pages with the final pages. I enjoyed seeing how Matt changed some panel and pacing in the end although I really enjoy these pitch pages too. I loved seeing Oni Press use some of these panels for the Faceless and the Family #1 (Collage Variant) cover! Social/Sharing |

He puts so much time into everything he does, and the result is one of a kind. Glad he is a part of the conics community. Excellent pickup and thanks for sharing these George!

Very high effort illustration work and he's carved himself out a unique space amongst his contemporaries.

Congrats on nabbing this early example! The trademark Matt-ness is all there, with more fleshing out to come. Congrats, man!

Just love the meticulousness of line work, where he does thicker vs thinner and especially where you the straight rigid ones vs the hatch-y curved ones. Matt's definitely a unique voice. Congrats!
