Description

While I remain focused on a variety of X-Men collecting, Creator-owned Image art has been a gateway drug into more independent publishers and further into self-published indie artists.

I stumbled across Juliette Collet's Blah Blah Blah #1 at Desert Island in Brooklyn and was really impressed by her work. It was raw, autobiographical, self-deprecating, frustrated, but also hopeful.

Since then, I've managed to snag Blah Blah Blah #2 & #3, along with her recent limited edition works, Pirate Band & Quelqu'un, a massive 11x17 comic screenprinted by hand.

I reached out to her earlier this summer, while she was doing a residency in Berlin, and began conversations about picking up some art, which resulted in meeting her and some of her comic creating cohort selling comics in Tompkins Square Park.

It was the type of vibe that brought back the feeling of youth in my comic collecting.

Presented here is side A of Blah Blah Blah #3's pull out poster, featuring the first of two mixed media self portraits. This one composed of graphite, collage, & ink, evoking images of sailing off on the high seas with your pirate crew in search of treasure.

Really excited to see Juliette develop in the coming years, as she continues to publish for herself & others!
