Description

This series by John Layman had deep roots in Lost World dino-fiction from Burroughs to Land of the Lost. Nick Bradshaw delivers incredible art for interiors and covers alike. This presents a problem: Who can provide equally compelling variant covers? The solution was a murderer's row of the likes of Arthur Adams, Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez, William Stout, J. Scott Campbell, and Mark Schultz. Basically a dream team of monster artists. If you haven't read this fun book, do yourself a favor and pick it up.

Here, the titular teen character faces a monster spider while perching atop her trusty giant iguana, as one does. I picked this up from the artist's booth at Dragon Con 2023 and got his photo with it that same night at a house party. On the wall behind him (see additional images) are a couple of Charles Vess commissions, fitting company indeed.

Stout has been drawing dinosaurs for decades and he can mix in the fantasy element to them too without breaking stride! He's great because every nodule and surface bump gets his full attention!
