Description
From issue 1 of Marvel’s relaunch of their Planet of the Apes comics. This mini-series is set in the timeline established in the most recent trilogy of Apes movies. The story begins with a recap of the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. This DPS shows the pivotal “Battle on the Golden Gate Bridge” from the climax of that film. Caesar leads the Apes to freedom into the woods outside San Francisco.

I love that this piece not only sets the stage for a new story being told, but singularly represents a key moment from the film.

If taken out of context, I would have expected to see this as a DVD extra as concept art.  Wachter's art here is very cinematic to bring the action up to the level of the movie.

Thankfully this was one of the few pieces from the series he decided to draw traditionally! It stood out to me, a big part of that was because it just felt like something from the Rise development process!

Thanks! Agreed! The cinematic feel of the action does indeed make it feel like a storyboard piece created for Rise!
