GI Joe #2 Pg 3 - Duke being 80’s Action Hero Duke Owner: Carl’s Collection Comment posted on 9/4/2025
Ruben DaCollector said:
Super simple, clean, classic storytelling! You know, I was never a hard core GI Joe fan, but I did read it for a while but don't remember Duke being anything but a likeable leader. I guess I'll find out the truth about Duke whenever I eventually get around to my 50 issue TPB! ![]() Fully capable and likable leader for sure, but he never really stood out to me. Always felt kind of bland, dutiful soldier guy to me. He kind of got lost in the shuffle when it comes to all of the other colorful and interesting characters. Here, finally he is given a spotlight and I really like this portrayal. |

I like the toys being used in the series. No redesign, just keep them with the cool 80's look with upgraded firepower! ![]() Williamson is a fan of the current toy series and has already taken character designs once revealed as figures and gone "Ok, that's going in in the book somewhere!" Fun to see fans who love the property want to put forth the effort to put out a great comic! |

"80s Action Hero Duke" sounds like a B or even C movie level franchise name, or perhaps a brand new retro inspired action figure line! Either way, Tom Reilly brings the great action and storytelling from panel to panel here, capped off by that excellent chopper reflection and subsequent explosion shot. Very cool! ![]() I'd watch that movie series, sounds like some great fun, grab some popcorn, turn off your brain and enjoy! |

Love seeing him work a large creature into the page! The detail is still present which you have to love, but he also shows he can work a leviathan right in there. The fact that he drew him outside the panel is also a wonderful touch. Nice one! ![]() Thanks Tyler! Yeah, I mean, its wonderful to see Jesse tackle a big splashy image while retaining the creative layout and design we love from him! Having the huge figure popping out of the panel really helps sell the weight and prescene. Always love studying a Jesse page! |

There's nothing new I can offer up that I didn't already tell you in my YouTube comment when you unveiled these beauties, but suffice it to say that they are a great looking pair of pages. Great design, a lovely style, and reminds me of Hit Girl. I love the movement on this page, especially how Lonergan produced the effect on the top half of the page without the need to break it up into panels. Just a single, large panel with multiple character images to lead the reader/viewer's eye, before finally closing the camera in for tighter shots in smaller, individual panels. And what a splash page this leads into! My, oh my..... ![]() Very much agree with all of that, just a wonderfully intriguing and engrossing opening page with a quickening sense of urgency as our eyes make their way down the page! We're up close in the action, in the moment, and then...turn the page... |

Damn, I was hoping you would've posted a single scan of these two side by side, as they pack a stronger punch that way. Either way, there's nothing new I can offer up that I didn't already tell you in my YouTube comment when you unveiled these beauties. Suffice it to say that they are a great looking pair of pages. I love nice lead in pages and the lead in to this splash is as good and possibly even better than the splash itself! ![]() You know, I had thought about making this just one listing but I had a hard time having that crazy cool turn of the page completely removed from anyone who might stumble on these individual listings. I did however just add a side by side image of both pages to each individual listing. I agree, ultimately I agree that they just look amazing next to each other! |

Action Comics Annual #3 p.46 - Superman vs Guy Gardner! Owner: Ruben DaCollector Comment posted on 7/22/2025 Wow! What a page! Love when Guy, out of rage, still punches Superman knowing he doesn't have his ring to aid him! Also a Grummett Waverider is fun to see. The bridge and moon in this splash is key to the symbolism of the story of the love of parents for their children under the D&D backdrop. DWJ's writing continues to impress giving us stories that are unique and personal. He takes from his influences growing up and is unafraid to show his love for them. He makes you know why he thinks they are cool. ![]() Well said Marcus! He absolutely brought his lived expieriences again and it truly shows and resonates. I targeted this one for the very reasons you mentioned. Couldn't pass up the chance at an all DWJ page with the moon, the bridge and the famil!y! |

Wow, congrats, man! I didn't know you were going to get a page from this 3-parter! You know I love the art in this story, and I think it absolutely blows the doors off his Absolute Wonder Woman work, so it's great to se you get a page and no, I'm not surprised at all that it contains Gordon! ![]() Seeing Sherman's take on Gotham has been such a treat! It definetly grabbed me more than the work on AbWW but to be fair its increased my anticipation to read that book in trade format. |

Highly acclaimed work! Sherman's art for this series gets overshadowed by his Absolute Wonder Woman art, but in time with collected editions separating the two titles, this will have its own spotlight. The innovative layouts and the thin line backgrounds are great so characters getting the spot shadows for emotional weight really stand out. ![]() Agreed, I can also see Dark Patterns being a highly successful trade as positive reviews spread. Its exactly what I'm looking for in a Batman story. |
