Description
Very pleased to have picked up this great wraparound cover art by George Barr, created for “Kindred Spirits: An Anthology of Gay and Lesbian Science Fiction”, edited by Jeffrey M. Elliot and published by Alyson in 1984. This was the first anthology of science fiction stories published that dealt explicitly and solely on LGBT themes. There’s not a ton of explicitly gay science fiction or fantasy illustration art out there, especially from this era, so this is a special piece to have. And securing the winning bid on my birthday was nice treat!

Very nice color scheme at play!  The gold, blues, and greys are all finely done and the homosexual themes are handled subtly here.  It is very much underexplored as a topic as writers tend to think something will change with society where it isn't an issue anymore.
