From the last part of the Sensei and Student storyline, Black Canary manages to deduce the identity of "The Blonde Slasher", a serial killer who targeted blonde women that Dinah's mother (The first Black Canary) fought many years ago but was unable to apprehend. She goes to confront the killer and bring him to justice while wearing her mother's Black Canary outfit to honor her memory.
