15x19-7/8" Crescent illustration board features mixed media original art cover recreation of Captain Marvel Story Book #2 (Fawcett, Winter 1947), part of a short-lived series that only saw four issues published. Cover was recreated by noted Captain Marvel artist C.C. Beck (1910-1989), who provided the art for the original issue. Art shows Captain Marvel smashing through the pages of a combination prose and comic panel issue, showing another image of Captain Marvel as well as a small image of Captain Marvel's secret identity Billy Batson. Image area measures 10.75x15.75". Text portion of book design is pasted stat. Beck has signed art at lower right, adding "1975" date. Pin holes at top margin. Art remains Exc. and would make for nice framed display. Wonderfully detailed recreation by on of the artists most associated w/Captain Marvel. Harry Matetsky Collection.
