DescriptionCLICK HERE FOR AUCTION LISTING!10.5x16" artboard w/pen an ink original art for page 19 of Superman #279, published by DC Comics in Sept. 1974. Art is by comic artist Curt Swan (1920-1996). Frank Giacoia (1924-1988) inks. Story synopsis has Clark Kent (Superman) teaming up w/Barbara Gordon (Batgirl) and going up against oil smugglers. Art offered here features five panels, showing Superman inhaling an oil spill and transferring it back into an oil tanker. Batgirl appears in two panels. Signed by Swan. Some blue pencil editorial notes/marks. Note taped on back of art with additional corrections. Top margin has stamped title w/issue/page number in grease pencil. Back has DC copyright inkstamp. Lt. aging/handling wear. Aged strip of tape at top and bottom center margins, but o/w art remains clean and Exc. For more original art pages from this story, see additional five lots in this auction.
