Description

I first owned this page back in the mid to late 1970's! It was the second or third page of original art that I had ever purchased. It cost me all of $180.00 and I bought two other pages from the same book at the same time from dealer Tony Dispoto. Sometime in the mid 1980's I let them go in a trade, probably to get some EC art, but I don't remember the exact details. But I have now found and acquired two out of the three Conan pages that I first owned so very long ago! It amazes me to have these two pages of original art again after so many years, as these two pages really did form the basis of my love of collecting original comic art!

Not hard to see how this could bring about a lifelong fascination of comics and fantasy as Smith and Buscema really put in the passion to the artwork.  Every panel brings adventure illustration and the comic book dynamics building up the genre for the new decade.

WOW. 180 dollars in the 70's. That sounds quite dear at the time. lol.

My memory is a little fuzzy on a deal that happened so long ago, but that might have been the price for all three pages!  Minimum wage back then was about $3.50 per hour!

Our hobby is a perpetual reinvention... But some things are permanent, like premium BWS Conan art! Great (re)pick!

Great story Glynn! We all have those pieces that we regret parting with, but sometimes fate reunites us with them again. I keep looking at different BWS Conan pages as the come into the active market, but I have yet to find the right one. Congratulations on getting this one back!
