Laetitia Herr - The Picnic (c. 1910)

I had never heard of Laetitia Herr (also known as Laetitia Malone) before seeing this piece, but I immediately found it charming, so picked it up. I later learned that Laetitia Herr was born in 1881 and lived and worked as an illustrator in Pennsylvania during the Golden Age of illustration. Her pieces come up for auction from time to time, and she seems to have been primarily a children’s story illustrator. She reminds me a lot of Jessie Wilcox Smith, which is of course a huge compliment. I learn something new every day about the illustrators of the early 20th century - so much talent, so little time.
