Description

Stuart is one of my all-time favorite artists and if he is not inking himself the next best thing is when Wade Von Grawbadger does the honors as he did in Empress.

Empress is a seven-issue, thrill ride of a story. Emporia, the wife of Morax, a blood-thirsty galactic dictator, has decided to leave her husband and, with the aid of her loyal body guard, take her three kids to her home world. But her husband, with a vast armada at his disposal, has no intention of letting her make it home alive.

Page 8 of Issue 3 finds Emporia and company getting a brief chance to catch their breath after narrowly escaping a ferocious beast - as the image of Stuart's prelim sketch on the back of the page shows. Emporia has risked everything to protect her children, and Stuart does a wonderful job of conveying her love for them on this page.

Best panel is the closeup of mother and child. It's like the anchor of the page before they launch the story back into the bigger scope of adventure.
