DescriptionFew books in comics resonated with me as deeply as Stuck Rubber Baby. It landed at just the right time in the industry after Maus had really opened the door for more literary comics to get read widely. Obviously, Cruse poured his heart into this book and it shows in every page.This baby, every pun intended, is HUGE. It's 18 x 24 of lovingly applied pencil and ink (can't imagine how many bottles Howard went through). At this size, everything shows and it's all so beautiful. Yes, it's a talking head page but man did Howard make wonderful use of his angles and that cigarette is just about a character in its own right. Am framing it and hanging it in my new office. Bought this during the Nov 2023 CAL. Fantastic transaction! Social/Sharing |

The stippling is so precise! The layers of them make the characters look 3D.
