Fairly early effort of Gerhard in his 6th issue. You can see that crosshatching density on the couch that wouldn't have been possible in earlier issues.

To me, this entire sequence is at the heart of Cerebus. At his heart he is a barbarien, dreaming of gold and conquest. When thrust into positions of power and authority he is quickly corrupted and ultimately disappointed, ending up with nothing.
