Description

Never thought I'd be able to secure a complete Spirit twice-up story, but here it is!

In this story, the Spirit finds himself in a small Korean town taken over by the thug King Kwang and his men. In this final page, Kwang's defeat also causes the unintentional death of his mother, something the villain doesn't fully realize even in that last panel. Twist endings are something of a hallmark of the Spirit stories. I also really like the sixth panel with the Spirit following the tracks out of town.

Per Denis Kitchen, the art throughout the story is principally Eisner but most of the detailed backgrounds are probably by Andre LeBlanc and Klaus Nordling. Shortly after this period in the Spirit's publication, Eisner started handing off most of the art duties to assistants.
